How do membership fees work?
Administration
A membership fee is a recurring per-member charge (monthly or annual) that covers the fixed side of running the group: insurance, storage, subscriptions. It exists so fixed costs stop depending on who happened to fly, sail or drive that month.
Setting it up
- Open Money, tab Configure (owners only)
- Set the amount and the frequency (monthly or annual) and the due day
- Choose who it applies to: all members, renters only, or equity members only
- Save; each period is tracked per member from then on
Tracking and collecting
- The period selector shows any month's paid and unpaid status per member
- Per member you can Mark paid, Mark unpaid, or Request payment (creates the ask with a QR)
- Fees can also ride along on invoices when automatic invoicing is on
- Pause and resume collection without losing the history
Good to know
- Fees appear on the member's My Balance like any other obligation
- Changing the amount affects future periods; already-tracked periods keep their value
